Writing is fun ...

Writing is fun, enjoy it, get excited at the prospect of writing. Write a story for your mother, father, sister, brother, daughter, son, aunt, uncle or friends. Write about something you shared together or about something that happened at some stage.  Write and share about your experiences and give the story as Christmas presents. Write a short memoir for your grandchildren. Write a letter telling someone how you feel about them, why and what circumstances helped you develop these feelings. It's all great education to get you into thinking about others and leads into fiction character development. Remember fiction is based on reality.  Ieven try to be creative when writing in my daily diary. Have fun guys.

As a new writer, for me, Stephen King - On Writing gives the most liberating advice I have been able to find.  He demystified the literary industry teasing it apart and clarifying it for what it is.  King erased any self-doubt I may have had, freeing me up to tell my stories through my writing in my style.  Anyone contemplating (or currently) writing would do well to read this book.

Part memoir, part master class by one of the bestselling authors of all time, this superb volume is a revealing and practical view of the writer's craft, comprising the basic tools of the trade every writer must have. King's advice is grounded in the vivid memories from childhood through his emergence as a writer, from his struggling early career to his widely reported, near-fatal accident in 1999 - and how the inextricable link between writing and living spurred his recovery.

There is a reason why Stephen King is one of the bestselling writers in the world, ever. Described in the Guardian as 'the most remarkable storyteller in modern American literature', Stephen King writes books that draw you in and are impossible to put down.
